ERP as a foundation - SRM as an extension: why both are indispensable
In medium-sized industrial companies, the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is often the backbone of all central business processes. It forms the basis for managing resources, finances, production and logistics. Nevertheless, companies are increasingly coming up against the limits of a classic ERP system, particularly in the areas of purchasing and supplier management. This is because while an ERP efficiently controls operational processes, the strategic component of supplier management often falls by the wayside. Data is often intransparent or inadequately prepared, which limits flexibility and agility in purchasing.
