What do affected companies have to fulfill?

All direct and some indirect emissions resulting from the production of imported goods must be calculated and documented. In addition, companies must submit a quarterly CBAM report containing information on the volume of imported goods, their embedded emissions and the carbon price paid in the third country.
Companies that do not comply with these obligations face penalties of up to €50 per tonne of CO₂ emissions not reported or incorrectly reported.
